2012 Fall Schedule

Starr will hold her first fall walk on Monday, August 20th. Her walks will have the same starting times and days of the week as her above spring schedule and will run through Wednesday, October 31st.

Walks begin promptly and go on until we run out of birds — usually between three and five hours. We go at a leisurely pace with plenty of time standing still to observe. All walks allow for at least one restroom stop about midway through. Of course participants are free to leave the walk at any time they like.

Starr’s walks are for adults, or those age 15 and older, and are for appropriate for birders of all abilities, from total beginners to experts.  Questions are always welcome during the walks.

All walks are non-smoking.

You do not need to register — just show up at the starting time.

The Birding Reports / Blog tab has reports and highlights of nearly every 2012 bird walk. Read the entries if you want to get an idea of how the walks go and what you might see on them.

Weather Cancellation Policy

The prospect of occasional showers will not cancel a walk, though steady rain or thunderstorms will. For more information — or to find out if a walk is still on — call Starr anytime at <cell>. On walk days Starr rises before 5 AM and enters the subway around 6:15 AM for a 7:30 AM walk. So if you call in the morning and are unable to reach Starr, it almost certainly means the walk is still on.

Cost is $8, $4 for full-time students, paid in cash only.

Bring your own binoculars.

Private birding tours

Starr also gives private birding tours to individuals and groups (children welcome) in the New York City area. Call Starr directly as above to discuss cost and availability.
